Events, festivals and happening in 2023

South Australia is known for its diversity of events and festivals, offering something for everyone throughout the year.

With 2023 well underway, there’s still time to start planning which of these exciting events you might want to attend with family and friends.

From now until the end of the year, there is such a great variety (and no shortage) of things to do in Adelaide and its surrounds. Think music festivals, food fairs, sporting events, cultural showcases, and so much more. Here are just a few of the events and festivals you can look forward to this year.

The Adelaide Fringe Festival has always been a highlight of the South Australian events calendar, and this year is no exception. Running until March 19th, the city comes alive with music, theatre, comedy, and more. With more than 1,000 shows to choose from, there’s something for everyone at this year’s Fringe. Be sure to check out the Garden of Unearthly Delights; a carnival-like hub of food, drink, and entertainment, and Gluttony; an eclectic array of entertainment venues, ranging from the large and lively to the intimate and atmospheric.

The Adelaide Festival runs from March 3rd to 19th. This internationally renowned celebration of music, theatre, dance, and visual art has been running since 1960 and attracts artists and performers from around the world. Be sure to take a look at this year’s program featuring Australian exclusives and world premiere performances. The festival also incorporates Adelaide Writer’s Week.

Mad March continues with Womadelaide, Adelaide Motorsport Festival, and KI’s New Shoots Music Festival, to name just a few. We’ve come up with a list (which is by no means complete) of some of the other major events and happenings across South Australia for the coming year.

Whether you’re a foodie, music lover, sports enthusiast or culture vulture, South Australia has you covered with an impressive range of events in 2023. Check in with the South Australian Festivals and Events Calendar throughout the year for updates on your favourite events.
