Plan and understand what your outlays will be. Draw up a checklist of all the things that need to be done and costs associated with accomplishing and making your move happen as seamlessly as possible.  
 
 
If you require a removalist, get a few quotes because they do vary quite significantly.
 
Different days of the week are priced differently. So, if you can choose the day you move, pick an off-peak day. With that in mind, also ask your removalist if some different days or times are cheaper. It pays to ask ahead.
 
You can also save on costs by moving yourself and hiring a truck instead of paying for a removalist.
