Adding Art to your home
Do you want to add some colour and funk to your home? Maybe you have styled your home to perfection with interiors, but it lacks that little bit of something.

And that something might be some well-placed pieces of art.

Choosing art that suits your home and adds value to the space can be a little daunting, to say the least.

You want to pick something that evokes meaning, possibly a happy memory and fits into the overall feel and look of your home.

Here are our top tips to get you started with adding some art to your home.

Match art to your décor

Select artwork for your walls that complements the other colours in the space.

If you have accents of green in your furnishings, you may want to consider adding a piece of art that has a green hue colour scheme.

Art can introduce an additional accent colour, but it should fit into the overall colour scheme of your home.

Placing your artwork

It really is all in the placement when it comes to art, to ensure that it adds value to the room.

Hanging art too high is one of the most common decorating mistakes. The centre of the image should be at eye level for most pieces as a general rule. Also, placing art somewhere that is well lit or looking to add a lamp or other soft lighting around your art piece can help it pop.

Statement Art

If you have a big blank canvas above a TV or in the kitchen, you may want to source a statement piece of art. Something big enough to fill the space and have an impact.

When picking statement art again look to tie in the colours of your décor to the art and look for something that tells a story or has a message that is meaningful to you.

Pick art that invokes a meaning, memory or makes you happy

Art should be fun and make you happy when you look at it, you are going to have to live with it day to day so make sure you take the time to pick something that speaks to you.

Don't just pick your art because it matches your décor. Even though that is an important aspect of choosing art, you should also pick art that makes you happy, and that brings you a little bit of joy.
